Tsitsipas is looking to tak  On the women’s side, Naomi Osaka defeated Karolina Pliskova to advance to her second straight Grand Slam final after Pliskova stunned Serena Williams, who will need to wait until the French Open to chase her 24th Grand Slam.

Australian open Final live

Osaka will be up against Petra Kvitova, who was able to take down the United States’ Danielle Collins.

Rafael Nadal hasn’t lost a set, and that held true against Stefanos Tsitsipas in his semifinal matchup. Next, he’ll have Novak Djokovic in the men’s final, adding another chapter to a long-standing rivalry. Djokovic ran Lucas Pouille out of the tournament with a 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 win in which he broke Pouille’s serve a ridiculous seven times. Djokovic has looked untouchable, but Nadal has as well. We’re in for a great final.

The finals are upon us, but there’s still great tennis to be played this week. The women’s singles final will be played on Saturday, Jan. 26, and the men’s singles final is on Sunday, Jan. 27. Pegasus World Cup

Pegasus World Cup: This year the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf race was added to be run at 1 3/16-miles for a huge $7 million purse. The 2019 Pegasus World Cup, the richest race in North America, goes to post Saturday at 5:36 p.m. ET from Gulstream Park in South Florida.

Pegasus World Cup live

Pegasus World Cup 2019: The post positions are set, and the field of 12 has two favorites that will take a bulk of the betting action for the third running of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park.

In its first two runnings, the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) has served as a Breeders’ Cup repeat, more of a crowning flourish on the preceding season than a launching pad to the next. The trend looks set to continue Saturday with Breeders’ Cup stars Accelerate and City of Light making their last hurrah before retirement. An upset, however, would be a more compelling plot twist for the season going forward.

The last-out Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner has won both editions of the Pegasus so far – Arrogate (2017) at 4-5 and Gun Runner (2018) as the even-money favorite. Each featured a renewal of Classic rivalry, with the victims unable to change the result. Arrogate once more beat the retiring (and out-of-sorts) California Chrome, and Gun Runner defeated West Coast et al.

The 2017 Pegasus did produce a few major winners during the year. Arrogate went on to a dramatic victory in the Dubai World Cup (G1), runner-up Shaman Ghost took the Santa Anita H. (G1), fourth Keen Ice captured the Suburban (G2), even the fifth War Story garnered the Brooklyn (G2).

Yet Arrogate’s total loss of form in the second half left his Pegasus as a distant memory, a relic of his all-too-brief greatness. And none of the other Pegasus participants contended for divisional leadership.

That inaugural Pegasus would have had a more enduring impact if Gun Runner, the eventual Horse of the Year, had been able to compete. He missed out through no fault of his own, thanks to an EHV-1 outbreak at Fair Grounds.

After reeling off four straight Grade 1s culminating in the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Classic, Gun Runner signed off in a blaze of glory in the 2018 Pegasus and retired to stud. Runner-up West Coast, subsequently second in the Dubai World Cup, was absent during the heart of the season and raced only twice more before bowing out.

Third-placer Gunnevera has continued to be a high-profile placegetter, an admirable money-spinner for Antonio Sano if not a win machine. Fifth Seeking the Soul returned from injury to compile a productive second half, and like Gunnevera, tries the Pegasus again on Saturday.

Championship side Bristol City will join Manchester United in the next round after coming from behind to see off Bolton Wanderers at Ashton Gate.

Arsenal started well against Manchester United but suffered an early blow when defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos was forced off with injury and replaced by Shkodran Mustafi after 21 minutes.

The change seemed to help Manchester United, and they stunned Arsenal with two goals in two minutes just after the half-hour mark.

The Red Devils went ahead when Romelu Lukaku slipped in Sanchez to round Petr Cech and net from a tight angle:

Lukaku then grabbed his second assist of the night when he teed up Lingar

Yet Aubameyang got Arsenal back into it just before half-time. Aaron Ramsey was the creator, running into the box and crossing for the striker to tap home unmarked at the far post:

3 – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored on his Arsenal debut in the Premier League (vs Everton), Europa League (vs Vorskla Poltava) and FA Cup (vs Man Utd). Impact.

Arsenal almost equalised straight after the break, as Ramsey forced goalkeeper Sergio Romero to tip his header over the bar from a cross by Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Gunners then suffered another injury blow as Lukaku accidentally caught Laurent Koscielny in the face with his boot. The defender had to be replaced by Matteo Guendouzi with Mesut Ozil also coming in for Alex Iwobi.

Arsenal pressed for an equaliser but were caught on the counter again in the closing stages. Paul Pogba drove forward from midfield and fired in a low shot which Cech could only parry, allowing substitute Martial to slide into an empty net.

The win means caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now won all eight games in charge of the club since replacing Jose Mourinho at the helm:

Friday’s only other FA Cup fixture saw Bolton get off to the perfect start at Bristol City. Mark Beevers put the visitors ahead with just six minutes on the clock.

A deep cross found the defender striding into the box, and he clipped it past goalkeeper Frank Fielding.

The hosts responded quickly and were level two minutes later through Callum O’Dowda. The winger collected a long ball forward on his chest, took a touch and then powered a low shot home.

Bristol City’s winner came in the form of a fine individual goal from Niclas Eliasson. The midfielder cut in from the right and curled a brilliant shot into the top corner with his left foot.

Match Preview

With a place in the final of the Carabao Cup having been secured, Manchester City now turn their attention to the FA Cup.

Second in the Premier League and into the knockout stages of the Champions League, City are still battling on four fronts as Guardiola looks to claim more silverware.

Despite their domestic dominance over the last 12 months, City haven’t won the FA Cup since 2011 and have only made it to the final once, back in 2013.

On that occasion, Ben Watson’s stoppage-time goal gave Wigan Athletic a famous victory over Roberto Mancini’s outfit, in one of the greatest shocks Wembley has seen.

In his way in this season’s competition stand Burnley, who, despite being in 16th place in the table, have been on a run of five games without suffering a defeat in all competitions.

With City, who are on a run of seven wins in a row, likely to field a strong starting XI, however, Dyche’s side will need to be at their very best to be in with a chance of getting a positive result at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City vs Burnley live streaming: Match preview

Will there be one way traffic at the Etihad?

In the last round, Guardiola’s team put 7 past Rotherham so will it be a similar story here?

Last Sunday’s 3-0 win at Huddersfield means they remain 4 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

The Citizens have also already progressed to a cup final; Wednesday’s 1-0 win at Burton sealed a 10-0 aggregate demolition.

This is the only domestic trophy Pep Guardiola has never won in England so will their hopes stay alive.

Or can Burnley cause a huge upset?

Sean Dyche’s team will be full of confidence right now as they’re unbeaten in 5, winning 4, including beating Barnsley in round three.

Those 10 points from 12 have seen them climb up to 16th in the Premier League and away from danger.

Nevertheless, surely Manchester City will comfortably get through.

101 Great Goals predicts: Manchester City 3 – Burnley 0

Newcastle University’s Harry Glover will remain in the UK for this round to continue his studies while Mike Ellery misses out through injury.England Sevens’ most capped player James Rodwell – who equalled New Zealand’s DJ Forbes’ World Series appearance record of 89 in Cape Town – is named as Amor’s 13th man.

“We have an exciting squad for Hamilton with a real blend of experience and youth,” said Amor.“The likes of Will Muir, Ryan Olowofela and Charlton Kerr have performed excellently in training and across the opening legs of this season’s World Series, and this is really encouraging as we look to continue strengthening the depth of our squad.”

England will face Samoa, Tonga and USA in Pool B on day one of the tournament which will be hosted at the Waikato Stadium.A women’s invitational tournament will be integrated into the men’s World Series event in Hamilton in which England Women Sevens will compete against New Zealand, China and France in a round robin contest.

Amor added: “From the second you get off the plane in New Zealand you can feel the passion that the nation has for rugby, and especially rugby sevens. We can’t wait to get out and play on the big, fast, flat pitch at the Waikato Stadium which lends itself so well to sevens.

“To have both men’s and women’s tournaments running side by side is brilliant. As a union we’ve been working really hard over the past four months on the integration of our men’s and women’s programmes so it’s great to have the opportunity for both teams to play alongside each other in Hamilton and Sydney.”
“Mike has been a mainstay of the sevens team,” said Canadian head coach Damian McGrath.“To have his experience back [is good]. He brings that rugby IQ very few players have in the World Series.”

Islanders joining Fuailefau on the Canadian roster in New Zealand include fellow-SMUS graduate Luke McCloskey and Oak Bay High and James Bay-product Connor Braid, Pat Kay of Duncan, and Isaac Kaay from the University of Victoria Vikes.

Former UVic Vikes great Nathan Hirayama will captain Canada. With injuries to key players Harry Jones, Lucas Hammond and Admir Cejvanovic, the return of Fuailefau couldn’t be better timed.

Also returning, from an even longer-term injury, is Phil Berna of the UBC Thunderbirds, who has been out for over a year.“He’s an exciting player. I have high hopes for Phil but don’t want to put too much pressure on him because he’s been such a long time out,” said McGrath.

Among the players expected to fill in are two making their Canada debuts — Cole Davis from the Calgary Saints and Brock Webster from the Oshawa Vikings of Ontario.“Brock Webster has been outstanding since we brought him over to Langford in September,” said McGrath.

“I really feel I need to take him on one of these trips. And Cole Davis has XVs experience. He’s already got Test caps. He’s not predictable. He’s strong, quick and agile. I’m looking forward to him performing Down Under.”

The top-four teams in the 2019 World Series will advance directly to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. The Canadian squad, which missed two crucial months of pre-season training at Westhills Stadium in Langford due to a labour dispute between the players and Rugby Canada, is in 12th place after the first two of 10 World Series events held in Dubai and South Africa.

The Canada Sevens, which annually sells out the lower bowl of B.C. Place, is March 9-10.Meanwhile, the Canadian women’s sevens team, also based in Langford, flew out of YYJ on Thursday for the next World Series tournament Feb. 1-3 in Sydney, Australia. It is the third of sixth World Series tournaments, out of which the top-four nations will advance directly to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Canada, the 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medallist, is second in the standings after the first two World Series events.

Canada has been placed in a pool with Ireland, Fiji and Russia for the Sydney tournament. Joining captain Ghislaine Landry is Caroline Crossley of Victoria and a familiar cast that includes Britt Benn, Bianca Farella, Charity Williams and Kayla Moleschi.

“We have a belief in this squad that we can always be on the podium,” said Canadian head coach John Tait of Mill Bay.“This year, with the Olympic qualification process, we made the goal simple: We’ve got to be top four in every tournament.”The Canada Sevens, the fifth of sixth World Series tournaments, is May 11-12 at Westhills Stadium.

Women’s snowboarding will feature a pair of superstars taking to the slopes in Aspen this year, as expectations for both Anna Gasser and Chloe Kim are enormous.

The latter was the breakout star of last year’s Winter Olympics, winning the gold medal in the halfpipe, but she’s already been a star on the X Games circuit for some time. The SuperPipe specialist is a four-time gold medal winner at the X Games, including in Aspen last year.

Here’s how she claimed the gold in 2018:

On the Big Air side, Gasser made history this winter by becoming the first woman to land a cab triple 1260, and the big question is whether she’ll show off the trick in Aspen:

Jamie Anderson has been the most consistent rider in Slopestyle for years, and she’s expected to add to her medal tally.

In the men’s competitions, Max Parrot leads a strong Canadian Big Air contingent, and the back-to-back Aspen winner will be difficult to dethrone. It can be done, however, and both the Big Air and Slopestyle men’s events are regarded as some of the hardest to call this year.

In skiing, David Wise is the SuperPipe defending champion after scoring 90+ points with two of his three runs last year, but he could face a difficult challenge from 2017 winner Aaron Blunck, who has shown strong form this winter.

Maddie Bowman has taken the women’s SuperPipe gold in five of the last six Aspen contests, but she will go up against a fresh challenger this year. Estonia’s Kelly Sildaru became the youngest ever X Games gold medalist in 2016, winning the Slopestyle, and she has now made the switch to SuperPipe.

In December she won the FIS Halfpipe contest at Copper Mountain in Summit County, Colorado, showing she’s ready for the big stage.

Musical guests at this year’s X Games include Lil Wayne and The Chainsmokers.
